After the new rule change, the companies’ ability to price their services could come into question. Service providers will have to seek FCC approval for price changes. Moreover, the FCC will be allowed to determine whether any business practices constitute “unreasonable discrimination.”

Service providers, like AT&T and Verizon Communications, have evinced their disapproval to the FCC’s plan and are both expected to file suit against the government to overturn the ruling.
