MSCI (NYSE: MSCI) Managing Director and Head of Equity Applied Research for North America Raman Subramanian joined ETF Trends Publisher Tom Lydon at the Morningstar ETF Conference in Chicago to discuss index innovation and how investors are gaining exposure to previously hard-to-access asset classes, such as frontier markets and China A-shares.
Subramanian also highlighted the second pillar of index innovation, including the active/passive debate and drivers of equity returns. MSCI’s expanding lineup of factor-driven indices attempts to isolate factor premiums.
Subramanian also discussed investors’ increasing desire for sustainable growth, increased talk of corporate governance and the growth of emerging markets stocks and ETFs in investors’ portfolios.
