Most Searched ETFs: All Over the Map

Keeping with the theme of patriotism, theiShares 7-10 Year Treasury Bond ETF (NYSEArca: IEF) and PowerShares DB U.S. Dollar Index Bullish Fund (NYSEArca: UUP) both make appearances on this week’s most searched list.

IEF was the top asset-gathering ETF in August, but let’s give King Dollar some credit. UUP is up 2.5% over the past month, a fine move for a currency ETF in such a time, and has added $43.5 million in new assets over the past 30 days. That total is surpassed by only five PowerShares ETFs.

Quiet as it was kept, 10-year Treasury yields jumped 5% on the week. The good news is those yields are still down 17.5% this year and with expectations in place that rates will continue to dwell near rock-bottom levels, investors are not shying away from rate-sensitive asset classes. That is one reason for increased interest this week in REIT ETFs, including the SPDR Dow Jones International Real Estate ETF (NYSEArca: RWX) and the Vanguard REIT ETF (NYSEArca: VNQ).
