P&G Props Up Consumer Staples ETFs

VDC, which was even worse than XLP last month with a 3.8% loss, is higher by 0.6% Friday. P&G accounted for 11.3% of VDC’s weight at the end of the second quarter, according to Vanguard data. That is 260 basis points more than the ETF allocates to its second-largest holding, Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO).

Investors pulled money from both ETFs in July with outflows accelerating this week.
