Time for Taiwan, the ETF That Is

With Taiwan Semi being the largest contributor of that tech weight and the primary driver of EWT’s price action, the ETF has benefited from the recent resurgence of old line tech stocks. Taiwan Semi paid its first dividend of eight cents a share 10 years ago, but the payout was 50 cents per share last year. EWT has a distribution yield of 3.65%.

As for what EWT offers the nervous emerging markets investor, the ETF sports a beta of 0.54 and a three-year standard deviation of 16.69%, according to iShares data. The three-year standard deviation on the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (NYSEArca: EEM) is 19.6%.
