Staples ETFs In Focus As Lafley Returns to P&G

Since June 2009 when McDonald became CEO, P&G has risen 48%. Over Lafley’s previous decade leading the company, the shares surged nearly 94%. Year-to-date, the stock is up about 13.5%, but that is only a middling performance among the 30 Dow stocks as at least a dozen are up 20% or more this year.

ETFs with significant allocations to P&G include the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (NYSEArca: XLP). XLP has 13.4% weight to the stock. The Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (NYSEArca: VDC) has a 12.1% weight to P&G while the iShares S&P Global Consumer Staples Sector Index Fund (NYSEArca: KXI) has a 6.9% allocation to P&G.
