As far as revenue growth is concerned, 51% of companies have beat revenue expectations, with 49% below the mark. The Russell 2000 small-cap companies are also showing signs of overall weakness, with 52% reporting positive numbers and 39% falling under analyst expectations, according to Pride.

Going forward, the expectations for companies that have yet to report are not anticipated to raise eyebrows. Excluding the financial sector, earnings are expected to be 3.76% lower than last years, reports Zacks. For the week ahead, 69 S&P 500 companies are to report.
