On Friday, the Labor Department announced that the jobless rate dropped to 8.6% in November from 9% the previous month, the lowest level in two and a half years. According to CBS News, 50,000 of the 120,000 new jobs created in November came from the retail sector as the employers ramped up hiring in anticipation of the holiday season.
