Treasury ETFs Rise as Traders Seek Safety | ETF Trends

U.S. Treasury exchange traded funds (ETFs) jumped Tuesday as bond yields declined along with stocks on worries over the global economy and Japan’s nuclear disaster.

The iShares Barclays 20+ Year Treasury Bond Fund (NYSEArca: TLT) was up more than 1%, climbing over $91 a share.

Yields on 10-year notes fell by the most in nearly a month, MarketWatch reported. Bond yields and prices move in opposite directions.

ETFs that invest in U.S. government bonds have weakened lately on inflation jitters and fears over the U.S. debt load.

PIMCO’s Bill Gross has reportedly started a short position in U.S. government debt.
