Vanguard Plans International REIT ETF | ETF Trends

Vanguard has plans in the works to launch an international REIT exchange traded fund (ETF) sometime in the next few weeks.

Murray Coleman for Barrons reports that Vanguard runs its ETFs as separate share class of existing or, in this case, new mutual funds. [ETF Filings: Brazil Bonds and Inverse Treasuries.]

The Global ex-U.S. REIT is seen as an expansion of Vanguard’s sector offerings. REITs have outperformed the market year-to-date, making this launch well-timed to appeal to investors. The new ETF won’t be without competition, though. Some international REIT ETFs included iShares FTSE EPRA/NAREIT ex-U.S. (NYSEArca: IFGL), SPDR Dow Jones International Real Estate (NYSEArca: RWX) and WisdomTree International Real Estate (NYSEArca: DRW).
