Lehman Brothers Introduces 3 New ETNs | ETF Trends

Lehman Brothers introduced their first commodity exchange traded notes (ETNs) and a listed private equity ETN on Friday.

All three are expected to begin trading this week. Timing for the two commodities ETNs are perfect, as agriculture is hot right now and there are not a lot of choices for investors, report the editors of Seeking Alpha. It represents four main commodity sectors: energy, metals, agriculture and livestock.

The ETNs are welcome additions for two reasons: 1) Lehman’s commodity index is the best available right now, and was originally off-limits to individual investors. Exposure is given to 20 different futures contracts based on liquidity; 2) Lehman’s pure beta technology is advanced, as it re-allocates each commodity on a quarterly basis into the optimum contract within a 12-month horizon.

The third ETN tracks the S&P Listed Private Equity Index, which includes 30 international listed private equity focused companies. This fund is a good development because of the scarcity of access retail investors have had to the private equity markets.
