Invesco/PowerShares Expands ETFs To European Markets | ETF Trends

The exchange traded fund (ETF) market has grown significantly in Europe, and providers see plenty of opportunity around for further expansion. Invesco revealed plans to expand its U.S.-based ETF division, PowerShares, in the U.K. and Europe. PowerShares is already the second largest issuer of ETFs in the U.S. with more than 90 funds and assets of $35 billion, reports Daniel Thomas for MSNBC. Since 2004, the European market has grown 60% each year, and ETFs are the fastest growing investment industry worldwide.

Initially, the firm will launch 12 ETFs on the London Stock Exchange, on November 12. Germany, Italy and Euronext France will soon follow.
