Examining Large-cap ETFs | ETF Trends

One of the conveniences of the DIAMONDS Trust, Series 1 (DIA) exchange traded fund (ETF) is that by mimicking the Dow Jones industrial average, it gives investors exposure to the 30 largest, best American companies. In other words, it provides a good selection of large-cap companies. However, a few other large-cap ETFs are worth consideration, such as the streetTracks Large Value (ELV) and the iShares Russell 1000 Value (IWD). Over the past five years, ELV and IWD have outperformed DIA. However, year-to-date, DIA has outperformed both of these ETFs, as Gary Gordon for ETF Expert notes. Your particular investment strategy will determine which, if any, of these ETFs is right for your portfolio.
