The day is dawning for the carbon emissions exchange traded fund (ETF) that is part Wall Street, part environmentalist. XShares Advisors filed with the SEC to launch the AirShares EU Carbon Allowances Fund. This ETF, according to Aaron Siegel for Investment News, will invest in futures on carbon emissions allowances under the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme. Currently, the New York-based XShares has 19 ETFs listed.
