The banter between the 2008 presidential candidates is already building. We would only hope that one individual would emerge to give Americans greater confidence in the coming years. Unfortunately, it won’t be Captain America.

Captain America has taken on his last mission, as the superhero is killed in his namesake comic that hit the stands Wednesday. This ends a long run for the stars and stripes-wearing character who was created in 1941.

What does this have to do with exchange traded funds (ETFs)? This may be a stretch, but the majority of ETF growth has been realized in the past three years. This was time of almost uninterrupted advancement in domestic and global markets. As global economies slow, what will be the effect on the ETF marketplace? Lets hope ETFs have a run half as successful as Captain America.
