ETFs Good For Small Portfolios | ETF Trends

Investing in exchange traded funds (ETFs) is a good idea even for a small portfolio. The commission cost of buying and selling is measured off a percent of the assets invested. The question Scott Burns asks in Chron.com is "How small should ETF buys be?" He reviews different portfolio sizes, commission costs and fund fees to find that with as little as $5,000, one can have an ETF portfolio.  Any investor can calcualte their commission expenses in advance to know when the time is right for cost effective ETF purchases.
