Investing in exchange traded funds (ETFs) is a good idea even for a small portfolio. The commission cost of buying and selling is measured off a percent of the assets invested. He reviews different portfolio sizes, commission costs and fund fees to find that with as little as $5,000, one can have an ETF portfolio. Any investor can calcualte their commission expenses in advance to know when the time is right for cost effective ETF purchases.
