As the market rallied in October, so did most exchange traded funds (ETFs). Over the years, some of the market’s worst days have occurred in October, but this year was different. The Dow gained 3.4% for the month and reached record highs after breaking 12,000. Emerging market ETFs were big winners for October, up around 8%. Biotechnology ETFs gained about 10% for the month. Oil and oil services ETFs were the only areas with losses.
