The Grains

I love the energies for long term growth, but have recently been looking for another area to invest in. After casually looking around a bit, it seems that grains might be a good choice. I like the aspect of global demand, and of course, you gotta eat. Without getting into the many economic factors that could (and do) potentially come into play, fundamentally, life sustaining food just seems to be a simple choice.

The only two ETF's I've found that really seem to touch on this sector or industry are MOO and DBA. I have found other choices if I were to included ETN's, but buying debt just seems wrong. There are other reasons I don't like ETN's also, so they are not contenders in my search.

Primarily, I'm trying to get all my options in one basket, as it were. Does anyone know of any other ETF's or possible plays for agriculture?

Although my entries and exits will ultimately be based on the technicals, any thoughts on the fundamentals are appreciated.

I'm open to any and all ideas or input at this point.

    Thanks

    Donato,

If you can expand a little bit to include sugar then that could be a good bet due to fundamentals. Looking at a UK EFT SUGA it might be a bit expensive just now at a technical level.

    Hi Jeff . . .
I don't have a problem with sugar. The only thing I really know about it is that the world has a sweet tooth. I only trade on the NYSE, AMEX, or NASDAQ though.

I'm currently leaning towards DBA since it is more of a play on the actual commodities; MOO is more of a play on the business of agriculture. And currently, DBA is showing a 20% interest in sugar!

Now, because of you, every time I hear sugar mentioned in the news I'll be paying attention!

    Thanks!
