If you want to hedge the depreciation of the dollar with precious commodities, I would go long gold rather than silver. Silver is at all time high against Gold. If you are long gold you would have the tailwind at your back rather than facing the headwind.

Note that accurate tracking at the fund level is only relevant if investors experience the same economics. Because RIC allocations are prorate, this will never happen. Only those funds trading as partnerships can achieve this.

Nice summary, Mr. Lydon.

Do you have any predictions for China, India, and Latin America?

I own these mutual funds and would like to exchange them for ETF's:

NGCCX, EBASX and MBLTX.

We do our best to cover most ETFs, but with more than 1,000 trading on the market in the U.S. alone, it's impossible to cover them all! If there's one you want to see mentioned specifically, let us know.

I check this site everyday and really like it but I am wondering why some ETF's are not covered at all, even though they are mentioned in various articles. Two examples are UMX and also ERUS which was in today's post.

Thanks for your reply. You have opened my eyes to ETF's as an alternative to mutual funds. My daughter is 19 and as long as taxes remain the same, she can have as much as $40,000 in LT capital gains with no tax liability. She has more gains than that in MBLTX. So I was thinking of making the change from MBLTX to some ETF's. Thanks again for all of your information each day.

Thanks for your kind comments. If you own MBLTX you might want to hold off selling until after the year-end to avoid paying taxes on the gain this year.

You can find the most recent articles on any topic by clicking on its tag - the tag page for UMX is http://www.etftrends.com/tag/umx/. We have not covered it since May, but keep an eye on it...there might be something soon!

I have recently become increasingly more interested in ETF's, thanks to your daily column. I manage a trust for my daughter and it's almost all Emerging Market mutual funds that I have held for at least a year or longer... Latin America, China, Russia, India, etc.

She is heavy in MBLTX and I am thinking of selling some or all of it, taking the profit, and investing in Latin American ETF's. I have followed your coverage of ECH, EPU, GXG and the like.

Thanks for all of your insights.

One of the funds I have been watching is UMX.... Proshrs Ultra Msci Mex. I notice that it has very low volume and on some days, there are no trades.

You last mentioned it in May and I can't find any updates.

Have you covered it since then?
