European Financial ETF Plunges on Debt Crisis | ETF Trends

More rumblings from Europe’s debt crisis have taken a toll on an exchange traded funds that invests in the region’s troubled financial sector.

The iShares MSCI Europe Financials Sector (NasdaqGM: EUFN) shed nearly 8% in Thursday’s sell-off.

Investors are worried the sovereign debt turmoil is spreading from Greece into the much larger economies of Italy and Spain.

Italian bond yields jumped again on Thursday. In ETFs, iShares MSCI Italy (NYSEArca: EWI) lost 8.6%, PowerShares DB 3x Italian Treasury Bond Futures ETN (NYSEArca: ITLT) fell 3.8% and iShares MSCI Spain (NYSEArca: EWP) declined 7.8%.
