New ETFs: Sectors, Volatility and a Global Approach | ETF Trends

New exchange traded funds (ETFs) set to premier over the next few weeks include a new round of sector funds, volatility funds and a set of overseas ETFs.

Global X is planning four international, primarily large-cap ETFs that would add to the company’s recent move into broader-based strategies. [New ETFs: Corporate Bonds, Dividends and More.]

Cinthia Murphy for Index Universe reports that the four funds are as follows:

  • Global X FTSE Andean 40 ETF (NYSEArca: AND)
  • Global X FTSE ASEAN 40 ETF (NYSEArca: ASEA)
  • Global X S&P/TSX Venture Canada ETF (NYSEArca: TSXV)

In an attempt to play the current interest in volatility-linked products, iShares has plans to come to market with two ETFs that give investors a chance to play the market’s wild swings. iShares MSCI USA Minimum Volatility and the iShares EAFE Minimum Volatility will seek to minimize losses resulting from sinking stock markets. The EAFE ETF covers Europe, Asia, Australia and the Far East, says Reuters.

Olivier Ludwig for Index Universe on NASDAQ reports that three new sector -focused ETFs are coming from State Street Global Advisors. The new funds, which have a 0.35% expense ratio, are:

  • SPDR S&P Health Care Equipment ETF (NYSEArca: XHE)
  • SPDR S&P Telecom ETF (NYSEArca: XTL)
  • SPDR S&P Transportation ETF (NYSEArca: XTN)
