Cyber Security ETF

I do the “ETF of the Week” for MarketWatch every Thursday on Chuck Jaffe’s MoneyLife Show where I highlight big movers and disappointments among exchange traded funds.

Aside from our normal broadcast, I recently had a chance to take a closer look at the cyber security sector and the relatively new PureFunds ISE Cyber Security ETF (NYSEArca: HACK). We have all heard about some firm that has been hacked, and as we become more interconnected, there is a growing need for greater cyber security.

For instance, Vasco Data Security (NasdaqGS: VDSI) benefited from increased spending on web security to defend against attacks, reports Ed Carson for Investor’s Business Daily. The security company crushed Wall Street forecasts by 180% in the third quarter, with EPS growth of 167%. VDSI makes up 8.8% of HACK.
