Copywriter/Editor
Reports to: Corporate Communications Manager
Rydex Grade: 10
Compensation: Relevant to pay scale for grade

Job Summary

The Copywriter will be part of the Security Global Investors corporate communications group and will be responsible for ensuring that the Security Global Investors and Rydex|SGI brands are clearly conveyed in all written communications, both internally and externally. This individual will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work well with others, delivering materials on deadline and keeping a calm demeanor during work occasions. The Copywriter is responsible for writing many forms of marketing communication including shareholder report letters, fund descriptions for annual reports, brochures, mailers, newsletter articles, press releases, ad copy, letters, web copy, scripts and e-mail messages. This person will also be responsible for developing and executing the company’s internal online newsletter. Corporate communications are also an essential element of this position, as well as communications relating to special associate events and communications. The Copywriter must ensure that edits, copy changes and data issues are quickly identified and changed, and will work closely with the marketing services group, including the design team, to ensure that design and writing are well-integrated. The Copywriter will work with other departments within the firm—including investment management, business development and accounting—and will manage freelancers. The Copywriter will also work closely with the RFP writer to support SGI’s request for proposal and quarterly due diligence questionnaire process. The Copywriter will coordinate with the corporate communications manager prior to release of any written communication to the public.

Job Functions

  • Responsible for writing marketing and sales collateral in a professional manner, consistent with SGI style guide and brand, and delivering materials within deadline
  • Responsible for editing and reviewing all written communications to ensure Security Global Investors or Rydex|SGI brand standards are adhered to and writing style is strong
  • Responsible for internal online company newsletter
  • Responsible for project management
  • Responsible for proofing a variety of online and hard copy documents for grammatical errors, typographical errors, data integrity and compliance with corporate standards and consistent style in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with design and marketing managers to ensure that copy and design are well-integrated
  • Work closely with RFP writer to support SGI’s request for proposal and quarterly due diligence questionnaire process
  • Responsible for maintenance and redevelopment of SGI Style Guide
  • Manage outside contractors and freelancers, as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University.
  • 7+ years experience with corporate copywriting. Journalism and/or public relations background a plus.
  • Strong project management skills required.
  • Computer proficiency; basic applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat). Utilize job related software programs including web content management software and project tracking software.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication.
  • Positive, proactive, organized, very detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Believes that collaboration is more important than being right.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University.
  • 7+ years experience with corporate copywriting. Journalism and/or public relations background a plus.
  • Strong project management skills required.
  • Computer proficiency; basic applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat). Utilize job related software programs including web content management software and project tracking software.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication.
