August ETF Performance Report

August ETFsFor the month of August, the markets and exchanged traded funds (ETFs) seemed to take a breather as investors departed to take advantage of the last remaining weeks of summer. But whatever activity there was on Wall Street had the net effect of pushing the markets higher for the month.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 3.5% for the month. The Nasdaq gained 1.5%, while the S&P 500 added 3.4%.

The top country for the month was Austria, which gained 16.1%. The weakest was China, which lost about 6%. The top sector was REITs, which were up about 14% for the month. The weakest sector was solar, which lost about 14%.
