June: Another Month of Growth for ETFs

June ETFsDespite flat market performance, exchange traded funds (ETFs) in June delivered another month in which they added to their growing ranks and increased assets. Total assets in both ETFs and exchange traded notes (ETNs) rose to $603,529, for a 1.6% gain from May and a 2.3% gain from a year earlier, according to National Stock Exchange.

The number of ETFs also rose to a total of 837, from 829 in May and 804 in June 2008. The number of net inflow into ETFs grew to 370, from 356 in May and 287 in June 2008, while the number of net outflows continued to decline.
