June ETF ReportIn June, the market and exchange traded fund (ETF) rally that began on March 9 began to show signs of losing steam most days. Aside from the June slowdown, though, it was the best quarterly performance the markets have seen in awhile.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the month down 0.6%. The Nasdaq gained 2.9%, while the S&P 500 ended flat. For the quarter, it was a rosier picture: the Dow rose 11%, the Nasdaq jumped 19.4% and the S&P 500 gained 15.2%.

For June, the top sector was biotechnology, which gained 7.6%. Internet infrastructure was the weakest, losing 14.7%. For the quarter, the top sector was coal, which gained 68%. Natural gas was the weakest, down 8.8%.

For the full rundown for the second quarter and the month of June, be sure to read our June ETF Performance Report.

Hey Tom - Is there any way to sort the monthly reports (alphabetically, by sector, or by returns), or can we only do that real time on the ETF analyzer tool? I'd like to post some of your lists on my blog, scottsinvestments.blogspot.com but it would be great if I could organize the monthly reports a little better.
  • Thanks for your comment. The information contained within our monthly reports is proprietary, so it’s not available for publication on other sites. You’re free to link back to it, however. To sort funds according to your preferences, you can use our analyzer. We also have some upcoming enhancements that we plan to add to the analyzer, which should make your experience even better.
