ETF Performance Report – January 2009

Economic news and corporate earnings from fourth quarter were reported through the month, affecting markets and exchange traded funds (ETFs).

The Dow Jones industrial average lost nearly 9% for the month, the S&P 500 was down 8.6% and the Nasdaq 6.4%.

iShares MSCI Chile (ECH) and iShares MSCI Brazil (EWZ) were the country ETFs with positive return for the month.  Up 12.2% and 1.5% respectively.  U.S. Gasoline (UGA) gained 19.2% and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) also had double digit performance of 11.5%.
