I buy and sell ETFs mainly in order to cover a field which is promising but in which it would be difficult to identify individual stocks for purchase or I will use an ETF plus one or two individual standout stocks. I prefer ETFs to mutual funds, of which I still have a few, because ETFs can be bought and sold like stocks immediately and without penalty.
