PowerShares Celebrates Landmark 5 Years For PWC ETF

2607151158 PowerShares is celebrating the five-year anniversary of its first exchange traded fund (ETF) and the index upon which it is based.

PowerShares Dynamic Market Portfolio (PWC) launched on May 1, 2003.

Since then, PWC has outpaced the S&P 500 Index by a cumulative 21.8%. It even surpassed the Lipper Multi-Cap Core Mutual Fund Average by 14.3%, without distributing any capital gains.

Among the other facts about the fund:

  • Annualized return of 13.4% and a cumulative return of 65.6%.
  • Standard performance for the one-year period marked March 31, 2008, was -9.34% and since inception, 12.2%.
  • Its top three holdings are: Exxon Mobil (XOM), Occidental Petroleum (OXY) and Owens Illinois (OI).
  • Year-to-date, it’s down 5.4%.
