The New Tech Consumer Tiny But Gives ETFs Growth Potential

Pc390707 Toy makers and retailers are filling their shelves with new technology devices for their newest consumer, the preschooler, ages 3 & up. Imagine what this will do for tech stocks and exchange traded funds (ETFs), with each family representing two or three generations of technology enthusiasts. Matt Richtel and Brad Stone for The New York Times report that junior consumers want to copy their parents and won’t settle for fake gadgets. Cellphones, laptops, digital cameras and MP3 players are among the most wanted. The days of "a scooter for Jimmy, a dolly for Sue" are ancient history.

As these preschoolers grow up, just think of all the gadgets they are going to consume in their life time!  Christmas Time shopping could help launch ETFs such as Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) and PowerShares Dynamic Hardware and Consumer Electronics (PHW).
