Using the Latest Technology with ETFs

4114318297 As the world evolves, so do exchange traded funds (ETFs) and technology.  Let’s face it, we all use technology or you wouldn’t be reading this. And you probably use ETFs if you are reading this (if you aren’t now, you are probably thinking about it). Seeking Alpha provides a list of the technology sector ETFs. Included in the tech sector are software, semiconductors (chips), hardware and consumer gadgets. The Internet also is included, although it could in the media sector too.

Globally focused ETF, iShares S&P Global Technology (IXN) is up 11% year-to-date, with top companies Microsoft (MSFT), Cisco (CSCO) and IBM (IBM) making up 20% of the ETF. One domestic tech ETF is Technology Select Sector SPDR (XLK) is up 12% and includes Microsoft, AT&T (T) and Cisco.
