Exchange traded funds (ETFs) that are not weighted by market capitalization, also known as fundamentally weighted, accounted for 45% (156) of the ETFs issued over the past five years. David Hoffman of InvestmentNews says those ETFs actually accounted for only 15% of assets coming in for that period. Insiders think there are many more non-market cap-weighted ETFs to come, however, in the end, the cap-weighted funds still seem to be dominant.
