ETF for Socially Responsible Investors

Images_39 Barclays Global Investors launched its second exchange traded fund (ETF) designed for socially responsible investors. The iShares KLD 400 Social Index Fund (DSI) seeks to give total exposure to companies that have positive environmental, social and governance characteristics. The fund tracks the Domini 400 Social Index by KLD Research and Analytics. The launch of DSI allows investors interested in issues such as climate change, treatment of overseas workers, or executive compensation to gain exposure to the Domini 400 Social Index, stated in the press release. This index not only gives exposure to socially responsible companies, it avoids others that get revenues from industries like alcohol and tobacco.
