Specialized ETFs Too Risky?

Diversification_1 The New York Times looks at the new specialized exchange traded funds and wonders if they might be too risky for individual investors.  These specialized ETFs have opened up investment options to individuals that were once only available to professional investors, such as commodities, options and currencies.

Investors just need to be careful and realize these investment options should only be a portion of a diversified portfolio.  Barclays states its iShares Silver Trust (SLV) is to help a portfolio over the long haul, not just when silver prices are high.
