Pumpkinetf Ghouls didn’t spook exchange traded fund (ETF) investors this Halloween as new highs were reached globally this month.  With today’s rate cut by the Federal Reserve, many ETFs hit new highs.

Domestically, the Nasdaq was the market winner, up 5.8%, while the Dow Jones industrial average lost 1.1% and the S&P 500 gained 0.2%.  Global market ETFs outperformed domestic markets with Europe up about 4%, Asia 6% and Latin America 6%.  China gained about 18%.

Mid-cap growth outperformed large- and small-caps.  Top performing sector ETFs for October were commodities.  Banks and insurance related ETFs were the worst performers. Click here to view the full performance report for October.
