For exchange traded fund (ETF) investors interested in getting into global ETFs, the S&P Global 1200 reflects 70% of the value of the world’s publicly traded stocks. Although there isn’t an ETF that tracks this directly, Bill Donoghue for MarketWatch says the S&P Global 1200 can divided among some regional ETFs that are already available:
- iShares S&P 500 Index (IVV)
- iShares S&P Europe 350 Index (IEV)
- iShares S&P/TOPIX 150 Index (ITF)
- iShares S&P Latin America 40 Index (ILF)
- Individual country ETFs exist as well to fill any area that might not be represented in the above.
Or the S&P Global 1200 can be split up by sectors. All of these ETFs have anywhere from 30% to 65% invested in U.S. holdings:
- iShares S&P Global Consumer Discretionary (RXI)
- iShares S&P Global Consumer Staples (KXI)
- iShares S&P Global Health Care (IXJ)
- iShares S&P Global Energy (IXC)
- iShares S&P Global Industrials (EXI)
- iShares S&P Global Technology (IXN)
- iShares S&P Global Telecommunications (IXP)
- iShares S&P Global Utilities (JXI)
- iShares S&P Global Materials (MXI)
