Socially responsible investing has moved to exchange traded funds(ETFs). Funds for SRI have grown to 9.4% of the $24.4 trillion invested in mutual funds. The SRI ETFs deliver satisfaction to investors who want to put their money where their values are.
Trang Ho of Investor’s Business Daily writes that the iShares KLD Select Social Index Fund (KLD) holds 218 companies in the Russell 1000 and S&P 500 which have the highest social and environmental scores and exclude only tobacco companies. Not one stock makes up more than 2% of the fund. The fund holds companies for at least a year, and re-balances quarterly.
