January ETF Performance Report

January1 This month saw mid-caps outperform large- and small-cap exchange traded funds (ETFs).  Globally, Asia was mixed, with results ranging from the extreme of Malaysia up 11% to China taking a breather down 7%.  Latin America, Europe and domestic markets were up 1-2%.

Regarding sectors, oil and energy were down 3-7%, conversely, metals were up 3-7%.  Healthcare and biotech were up over 3%; transportation was up 8% and the overwhelming winner, surprisingly, was real estate, up 9%.
